WIND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What is wind????
A big layer called atmosphere and within that layer is wind that moves from place to place.
facts about wind:
>wind often moves horizontally
>wind goes through a process called CIRCULATION: which is when air above hot areas expands and rises, then air from cooler areas then flow into replace the heated air
>wind is air that moves over the earth's surface
>wind moves air
>wind can move so softly sometimes, you can hardly feel it
>other times wind can blow so fast and hard it can knock over trees and maybe buildings
1a. What are the various sources of wind?
The sources of wind are energy from moving air, the daily wind cycle, and the wind energy for electricity generation.
1b. What is the ultimate cause of wind on earth?
Wind is caused by air flowing from high to low pressure.
2. What are the different patterns and types of wind around the world?
All winds are in a global circlulation system, it balances temperature around the world. Each part of the world gets different amounts of heat from the sun, which turns into different temperature and air pressure around the world. The Coriolis Effect directs every wind on earth in a distant pattern of winds.
3. What are the positive and negative results of wind?
Negatives:
>If the air moves very quickly the wind can become a hurricane.
>Meteoroligists have to know what the wind is like or it will push them off track.
>If wind hits the desert, it creates wind storms and very dry air.
>The higher the wind is, the more heat you lose from your body.
Positives:
>Wind doesn't produce hazardous waste
>Wind doesn't deplete natural resources
>Wind helps reduce enviromental damage
>Wind energy helps prevent global warming
